Firebird Project is happy to announce general availability of Firebird 3.0.3 — the third point release in the Firebird 3.0 series.
This sub-release offers many bug fixes (including fix for a recently reported security vulnerability) and also adds a few minor features and improvements, please refer to the Release Notes for the full list of changes. Binary kits for Windows and Linux on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms are immediately available for download.

| Version series 2.5.x has a maintenance cycle of two point releases per year.

Series 3.0.x
| Version series 3.0.x is the latest one released by the project and thus it has the highest priority in terms of the bug fixing, with updates scheduled quarterly. All kinds of bugfixes and performance improvements are possible inside its codebase, including ports to new platforms.

New Development: version 4.0
| Firebird 4.0 represents the project’s next milestone release after v3.0, its development has been started in March 2016.
You may check what features to expect at the v4.0 planning board. Use the “Track Details” icon to discover the list of tasks currently scheduled for v4.0 Beta Release. Alpha 1 preview release is available for testing. Daily v4.0 builds can be downloaded from the snapshot area. |

Firebird Project announces the first Alpha release of Firebird 4.0, the next major version of the Firebird relational database, which is now available for testing.
This Alpha release arrives with an early preview of the features and improvements currently under development by the Firebird development team, as well as with countless bugfixes. Our users are appreciated giving it a try and providing feedback to this mailing list. Apparent bugs can be reported directly to the bugtracker.
Alpha releases are not encouraged for production usage or any other goals that require a stable system. They are, however, recommended for those users who want to help in identifying issues and bottlenecks thus allowing to progress faster through the Beta/RC stages towards the final release.
Please read the Release Notes carefully before installing and testing this Alpha release.

Firebird 3.0.2 Package is uploaded into Firebird 3.0 ppa for current ubuntu releases .
There are packages for Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty ), 16.10 (Yakkety) , 16.04 LTS (Xenial) and 14.04 LTS (Trusty).
Firebird 3.0.2 changes are available in the release notes
Finally the Firebird 3 version for Android was made available for download in the official site. Please note that since this version wasn’t widely tested, you must consider it as experimental.
If you find any problems, please report it to the developers mailing list.
We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of
firebird3.0, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive.

Authenticated Firebird users are allowed to declare UDFs (user-defined
functions). The default config allows using all entry points from the standard
UDF library, which is dynamically linked with libc, with its symbols
re-exported, including system().
