FirebirdConfig is now Open Source
FirebirdConfig is an utility to help people to configure the parameters available in firebird.conf file. Now, anyone can join the project and help with the development. The language used is Delphi/Kylix.

CakePHP RC3 – The RC of Triumph!
It’s finally here: the final release before the final release of
CakePHP 1.2 [ED:Tested and works just fine with Firebird 2.1]
Some of you may remember the benchmarks posted by Rasmus Lerdorf, in
which CakePHP did not perform so well. We can all debate Rasmus’ due
diligence (or lack of), but what was clear was that we had some
catching up to do. Over the past few weeks, Larry has worked
tirelessly on iteration after iteration of performance improvements,
and now we’re faster than ever before. By itself, the bootstrap
process is over 10x faster than RC2, and basic requests for static
content are now about 5x faster overall.
ANN: New Freeware utility “Firebird Transaction Statistic Logger”
There is a new freeware utility called “Firebird Transaction Statistic Logger” which allows to log the transaction counters (OIT, OAT, OST, Next transaction) of a Firebird database either via a GUI driven application with charting facility or a Windows service. In the new edition of IBProvider Professional 7 codepages support was implemented, bugs were fixed, BLOB-fields access and memory management was improved

New version of FirebirdConfig
The new version of FirebirdConfig (0.2) has interesting features, including incremental search, you can see more information on the website, as well the video of its new features.
FlameRobin 0.9.0 released

VM with FB+Ubuntu+Mondrian
There is a Firebird VMware applicance available for download. It contains: Ubuntu 8.04 x86, Firebird V2.1.1 (SuperServer) and Mondrian V3.0.4 with their foodmart example already set up with Firebird.
