.net embedded firebird on vista report

It’s a winform .net 2 business app that is very data centric and we tested initially with the embedded FireBird database driver which I had a gut feeling was going to be trouble, but absolutely no problems at all and every aspect is significantly faster than on the same computer with the same hardware exactly but different operating systems.

Future Performance Question – from an big firebird customer

Greg Kay from objectmastery.com wrote on Firebird-Architect list:
Firstly, some background. Our system currently runs on Firebird
Classic 1.5.3, dual CPU opteron 252, 16 gig ram, and SuSE Linux 10.1.
The database is about 25 gig and has 150 – 200 connections and about 1
million transactions a day (between 8am and 8pm). The server mostly
sits at about 30-40% of capacity. We also run a number of report
servers for queries that do not need up to date information.
