Beta Release of DB Difftective Products

Datanamic are very pleased to announce the beta release of our two new tools, the DB Data Difftective and the DB Schema Difftective. The beta versions of both products are now available for download.
DB Data Difftective is a tool to compare and synchronize database content.
DB Schema Difftective is a tool to compare and synchronize database schemas.
Both tools support Oracle, MySQL, InterBase, Firebird, MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.

Macedonia’s Ministry of Finance uses Firebird

The ministry’s Money Laundering Prevention Directorate (MLPD) used Gnu Privacy Guard (GPG) between 2004 and 2007. This is Open Source software for encrypting and electronically signing data, allowing it to be transmitted securely even through public networks. The directorate also uses the Open Source relational database management system Firebird. “Both the banks and the MLPD accepted our solution without any objections, and it did not introduce any costs”, comments Jovanovic.

The 5th Firebird Developers Day Brazilian conference site is now on-line. Subscriptions can be done on-line, starting at 5/May. Dmitry Yemanov will be, for the first time, speaking at the conference (special thanks for IBSurgeon).

The members of the Firebird Project announce the release of Firebird 2.0.4, a point release with fixes for several Nbackup problems. Forced writes on Linux will work with this version. Summary here, downloads here.

Dmitry Yemanov will be speaking at FDD

Dmitry Yemanov will be speaking at the Firebird Developers Day. This is the first time Dmitry is coming to the Brazilian conference. Holger Klemt (HK Software/IBExpert) and Dmitri Kouzmenko (IBSurgeon) are the other international speakers that will be (once more) speaking in FDD. The one-day-conference will be held in Piracicaba-SP, at 19/July, and is organized/promoted by FireBase.

With the recent release of Firebird 2.1 final, it is time to update the “Get to know Firebird in 2 minutes” paper. English (PDF/HTML) and Brazilian Portuguese is already up to date (revision 1.2). You can help translating/updating the document to other languages.

[Upd] German, French and Czech versions are now updated too.
