Firebird 2.5.1 RC1 is out!
The Firebird Project team is happy to announce that the v.2.5.1 release candidate kits for Linux and Windows 32-bit and 64-bit platforms are ready for testing. MacOSX kits are delayed by a problem with MacOSX 10.7 (Lion) but should appear soon. Enjoy! and please report bugs or regressions to the firebird-devel list.

Shared Page Cache is coming
One of the biggest tasks for the long-awaited Firebird 3.0 release is the Shared Page Cache feature. With this feature, Firebird will finally be able to fully benefit of SMP machines without having to work with individual cache for every connection.
Vlad Khorsun had been busy working on this, and judging by recent commits to SoundForge, the task is almost finished. Part of the code came from Vulcan. He hopes that people will help doing lots of tests when the first alpha release appears.
Note: Up to now, Shared Cache was only available in the SuperServer model, but SS is not optimized for SMP.

Firebird V2.1.4 packages released for Fedora 13 and 14 and for RHEL4 and 5 and other derivatives (Centos, Scientific Linux)
From Philippe Makowski: Firebird V2.1.4 packages for Fedora 13 and 14 and for RHEL4 and 5 and other derivatives (Centos, Scientific Linux) have been pushed into Fedora and Epel repositories. Packages for Mandriva will be avilable soon.
Firebird 2.1.4 is out!
The Firebird Project team is pleased to announce the latest minor release in the Firebird 2.1 series, v.2.1.4, addressing bugs that have arisen since the v.2.1.3 release in 2009.
Kits are ready to download for Linux, Windows and MacOSX on both 32-bit and 64-bit Intel platforms. For MacOSX, LIPO (fat client) packages are included and PowerPC kits will follow soon.

Firebird 2.1.4 RC1 is out!
The Firebird development team is pleased to announce that a release candidate for Firebird 2.1.4 has been through QA and is available for testing. 64-bit and 32-bit kits are available for Linux, Windows and MacOSX.

Firebird 2.1.4 RC1 almost out
It was almost out of the oven, but a regression bug discovered in the last minute (and already fixed by now) delayed the release of FB 2.1.4 RC1. New binaries are being cooked right now, and you can expect the release to be public available in firebirdsql.org in the next days.
