With interbase/firebird we use transactions. you start transactions before you get/post data from the database. With this article i’d like to show how you can easily centralize the code and prevent errors like “Transaction already started, or errors while committing”.
DotNetFirebird Appliance contains LAMP like kit (Mono+Apache + Firebird + Ubuntu Linux + PHP+Lazarus) to easy start programming in php/mono/oopascal and working with firebird (Two administration tools were included in the virtual machine) also there is added MonoDevelop for C# coding and Lazarus (Delphi like ide) for oopascal for RAD (Rapid application development)
Mark Staples has this nice post on using F# with a Fire Bird database. While its not dissimilar to the OleDb example available on the F# wiki, it’s nice as Mark’s example links the database to a GUI and he provides a great explanation of the code.

DotLucene is an open-source search engine library for .NET. There is now set up a demo site (damnfastdotlucene.org) that tests DotLucene performance on quite a big set of documents

Frank Ingermann surprised me [Paul Vinkenoog] with a Generator Guide last week – in DocBook XML! He’d written it some time ago and recently converted it to DocBook as an exercise, because he had to learn DocBook for his work.
It needs a little updating, but I can probably commit it – and build HTML and PDF versions – within a week.
