Firebird mentioned in two articles

IT-Director.comA phenomenon of Open Source has been that a single product normally emerges in any given category. Firefox (browser), Linux (OS), Apache (Web Server) and JBoss (middleware stack) are all examples. The only market where more than one product seems to have emerged is database—which is dominated by MySQL, but also served by FireBird, SleepyCat, Ingres and others. – Read more here.

Why this?

Firebird is an open source project, and anyone can download and use it without giving any personal information. This is great! But there is one major drawback: the project doesn’t have a database of currently users, and so, it is almost impossible to do a quick direct contact with them, to let them know about new versions, patches, conferences dates, etc.

This list will try to fill this gap.
