Last Saturday was the day to assemble the 500 folders that every FDD attendee will receive. Vlad Khorsun and Dmitry Kouzmenko (international speakers) will arrive in São Paulo in the next few minutes. Last time I meet them personaly was in Italy, in the last FB Intl. Conference.

Guacosoft.com has released XMLWizard, a new tool used to import data into Firebird databases. It supports XML, CSV and fixed-width textual files. XML import has some unique features like support for nested XML files and loading data from XML properties.
Beside importing, the tool can be used to compare the data from file against the database and cherry-pick the changes manually. More info, and a demo video can be found at XMLWizard website.
The Beta 1 of Entity Framework v4 is out for a while and you may be tempted to check the new features comming. And why not with Firebird.

RPM of fourth Release Candidate of php 5.3.0 are available for Fedora 9, 10, 11 and EL 5 in the remi-test repository. If not already done, it’s really time to start the tests.
RPM of the new version php 5.2.10 are available in fedora Rawhide repository and in remi repository for Fedora and Enterprise Linux ≥ 4 (RHEL, CentOS) with most of the extensions and firebird driver

Firebird is known to be slow when used with Internet connections. Firebird 2.1 already brought to us an improved communication protocol, but we need an even faster protocol. If you consider this an important feature, please vote for it to raise its priority.
