Dear members,
we have this month a Committee meeting (http://web.firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=ffoundation&sub=committee&id=agenda), and the major point is about our financial situation.
The Foundation is today in a situation where our expenses are larger than our incomes, so the situation can’t stay as it is.
The Admin team will be informed about this situation and we will see with the team if some expenses can be cut. But expenses are grants, and if we want that Firebird 3.0 final release be a successful product, we need resources for code, documentation and tests.
We appreciate the financial effort that you are doing as members and sponsors.
Having more members would certainly help us to solve are financial situation, so I’m asking you to contact your customers with a view to sponsoring or corporate membership.
Another point that I would like you to consider is to raising your level as member.
Today we have 216 members, 121 associate, 15 honorary, 66 voting and 14 sponsors.
Please consider to upgrade your level from Associate to Voting, and from Voting to Bronze sponsor.
Roughly, we need to an incomes increase of 25000 USD per year, this can be reach if 1/3 of the members upgrade their level from Associate to Voting, and from Voting to Bronze sponsor.
Thanks for your continued support, I wish you all the best for your business, with Firebird on your side.
