Damyan Ivanov requested from us to test the new Firebird 2.5 (almost rc1) packages on Debian based distros (Ubuntu)
I have updated the HowTo build the packages from Git repository.
There are still known big issues but you can start testing and give feedback on Firebird Debian list

Please note that the 2.5 packages are currently work in progress. Don’t be despaired if there are problems with them, check again in a day or two. Or, submit patches to the list

The current Git (8178e769d17e3f7173c4781c97bc8d20b7bbd072) seems to offer an usable super-server (firebird2.5-super). The only thing I am aware of that needs to be done is to make it find libib_util. It currently looks for libib_util.so, while in /usr/lib there is libib_util.so.0
